Chania Wilson is a Raleigh, NC native with a Bachelor in Fine Arts with a concentration in Choreography and Performance and a minor in Arts Administration from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. After her undergraduate studies, she taught two years at her alma mater, Enloe High School, as co-director of the dance department and director of the Enloe Charity Ball. During her time at Enloe, she continued to make dance films which have been selected for Greensboro Dance Film Festival and ADF Movies by Movers. While at Enloe, she started the first county wide dance intensive, Ignite Dance Intensive, which won the United Arts Community Spotlight award in 2024.
She is a current MFA: Embodied Interdisciplinary Praxis in Dance student at Duke University with an expected graduation date of May 2025. Her research is centered around embodied archival response, choreography, Black performance theory, and dance film. She is the founder and Artistic Director of Nine Movement Collective, a professional modern dance company emphasizing collaborative teaching, choreography, and performance in the triangle area.
Her work has been selected for several choreographic residencies like, NC Dance Festival and Tobacco Road Dance Productions. She has guest taught in several local high schools and hosts monthly free community classes for Raleigh/Durham modern dance artists. She currently is a Company Choreographer and Instructor at The Dance Attic, Inc where she teaches ages 3-18.
